Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba says his ministry is closely monitoring the performance of diplomats in Zambian missions abroad to ensure there is productivity and efficiency in their work.

Mr. Kalaba notes that diplomats have in the past adopted a laissez faire attitude contrary to the government policy of promoting a productive work culture in the public service.

He states that as a follow up to the presidential directive the ministry of foreign affairs has come up with a strategy where every officer in the Foreign Service has to update the ministry on what they have achieved every month and what they intend to do in the following month.

Mr Kalaba says this performance data sheet will help to identify diplomats who are underperforming and government will not hesitate to recall them.
