ART drugs run out in Mongu

People living with HIV and AIDS in Mongu has expressed worry over government’s delay to deliver Anti-Retro-viral Therapy (ART) drugs at some clinics in the District.

One patient has told Qfm in a walk in interview that he left Mongu because he urgently wanted to come and access the drugs in Lusaka.

And over One hundred and ninety one patients who are on ART Drugs at Mwanawina Health Post in Limulunga District of Western Province have gone for a week without receiving their medication.

Mabili Ward Councillor Sile Mubukwanu says Mwanawina Health Post is the only health post in the area.

Mr. Mubukwanu has called for urgent need for government to deliver the drugs to the clinic.

He states t that the health facility recently received drugs to cater for only 96 out of the 287 ART Clients.

The Councillor has also advised the Ministry of Health to have equity in the distribution of the drugs to health centers in order to carter for all the patients.
