Political Scientist Alex Ng’oma has described the move by Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba not to relinquish his parliamentary seat following his decision to join the UPND as political indecision.

Dr. Ng’oma has told QFM News in an interview that it is not possible for Mr. Mwamba to have one leg in the ruling party and another in the opposition.

He says it is unconstitutional for a Member of Parliament to ditch the political party that sponsored him to parliament to join another and expects to remain a Member of Parliament for his former party.

He says it is clear that the Kasama Central parliamentarian does not want to lose his gratuity by relinquishing his position.

Dr. Ng’oma states that the reasons advanced by Mr. Mwamba for not relinquishing his seat with regards opposition Members of Parliament serving in the PF Government are not genuine.

He explains that the constitution allows the Head of State to appoint any Member of Parliament to serve in his government, and that the case is different with Mr. Mwamba.
