Chituwo asks govt to reduce cost of hospital care

Former Health Minister Brian Chituwo has appealed to government to make an effort towards reducing the cost of hospital care.

Dr. Chituwo says it is worrying to see the escalating numbers of children and adults who are malnourished and failing to access quality health care services.

Dr. Chituwo who is also Mumbwa central Member of Parliament explains that government through the ministry of health should strengthen the health care delivery system especially in rural areas where people have no access to quality free medical services.

He notes that Zambia’s healthcare system needs serious attention if illnesses caused by poverty are to be reduced.

Dr. Chituwo adds that it’s also important for medical personnel to seriously examine both children and adults in cases where they are suspecting malnutrition which is possible due to the high levels of poverty in the country.
