ZACA disappointed by hike in fuel pump price

The Zambia Consumers Association (ZACA) says it is greatly disappointed with the move by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) to increase the pump price of fuel.

ZACA information and publicity secretary Juba Sakala says the move shows high levels of policy inconsistencies on the part of government.

Mr Sakala adds that the increase in the pump price of fuel will translate into an increase in the price of basic commodities thereby negatively affecting consumers.

He says much as the association is aware of what has led to the increase in the fuel price, government should have found ways to cushion the price of fuel.

Mr Sakala says the reduction and later increase in fuel prices within a short period of time amounts to playing on the minds of the people of Zambia.
