Organizers of ‘Tonga Meeting’ engage ZP

Organizers of the Tonga Speaking people meeting to be held in Monze District have written to the Zambia Police Service in Monze seeking permission to hold the same meeting on Saturday.

Yesterday, Chief Government Spokesperson warned the organizers of stern action to call on people and attend that special meeting on the 19th of July, 2015 to discuss the tribal remarks by PF Secretary General Davies Chama.

One of the organizers Edson Hamakowa has told QFM News in a statement that the organizers have since written to the police informing them of an intention by concerned citizens to hold a meeting on the 19th July 2015 at 0800hours.

Mr. Hamakowa explains in the letter that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss Mr. Chama’s utterances with respect to the Tonga people, with a view to developing a communication strategy for influencing politicians to desist from using tribal, Regional and ethnicity propaganda for the sake of national unit.

Mr. Hamakowa furthermore explains that the meeting will be held at Sparkles Events Center in Monze and speakers will include; Professor Benjamin Mweene, Vincent Malambo, Dr Kabeta Muleya, Cosmas Michelo and Edson Hamakowa.

He adds that following the overwhelming response to the call for the meeting and the requests received from various interested parties, the organizing committee is happy to extend an open invitation to NGO’s, the Churches, the Press and any interested person and organizations to observe the meeting.

He has however clarified that political party representatives or persons in political attire will not be welcome.
