Performance of Zambian Diplomats worries President Lungu

President Edgar Lungu is concerned by reports reaching his office that some Zambian diplomats sent in foreign missions are failing to perform to the expected standards.

President Lungu however says he is not in a hurry to replace such diplomats who are not equal to the task because of the cost implications.

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony of Winnie Chibesakunda as Zambia’s Ambassador to China, Walubita Imakando as Zambia’s High Commissioner to Malaysia and Joseph Mukupa as Chief Analyst Project Monitoring and Implementation at State House this morning, President Lungu he, on the other hand, expects the best from the people he has taken time to appoint for Foreign Service.

He has urged Ms. Chibesakunda to be vigilant knowing that other countries are scrambling to be friends to that country.

The President has furthermore urged Ms Chibesakunda to do her best in fostering international trade between Zambia and China.

He has also urged Mr. Imakando to ensure that Zambia benefits from Malaysia saying that Malaysia is a prudent economic player that is doing well in technological advancement.

The Head of State has equally urged Mr. Mukupa to ensure that he works closely with his Special Assistant for Project Monitoring and Implementation Lucky Mulusa in seeing that projects are done within the time frame of the project.

And speaking to journalists shortly after being sworn in Ms. Chibesakunda pledged to do her best in ensuring that Zambia benefits from the investment currently taking place in that Asian country.

Mr.Imakando has also promised to work hard in strengthening ties between Zambian and Malaysia.

Mr. Mukupa has also told journalists he believes the problem with project implementation in Zambia lies in failure to meet contractual obligations the more reason he will endeavor to work on this challenge.
