Govt dismisses corruption allegations in Police recruitment

Davies Mwila

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila says there is nothing creepy about the current recruitment exercise for Police officers in the country.

Mr. Mwila says claims that the Zambia Police Service already has a list of people to be recruited and that the ongoing recruitment process is a mere academic exercise are misleading to those wishing to be enlisted.

Mr. Mwila says people ought to know that the recruitment of new Police officers is not an easy task considering  the high unemployment levels among youths in the country.

He says it is therefore unfair for some people to allege that the current recruitment process is marred with corruption and that some people have already been recruited when the process has not been finalized.

Mr Mwila adds that it will be prudent for people to raise such concerns when the government is done with the recruitment exercise and not when the recruitment process is still underway.

The Home Affairs Minister has since assured the nation that relevant security wings will verify the whole recruitment exercise to ensure it is corruption free.
