Attacks on Nawakwi disappoints FDD on the Copperbelt

The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) on the Copperbelt is disappointed with the unwarranted attacks on its leader Edith Nawakwi by the ruling Patriotic Front.

FDD Copperbelt provincial Chairperson Yotam Mtayachalo says Zambia is no longer a one party state thus the ruling party should not expect everyone to shower them with praises.

Mr. Mtayachalo says the PF should stop demeaning people with divergent views, but respect them and to listen to what they are saying.

He says Ms. Nawakwi is merely playing her role of providing checks and balances as expected of her as an opposition leader.

He adds that as FDD members, they will not sit and watch their leader being attacked, but will protect and support her.

Mr. Mtayachalo has further urged other opposition political parties not to be intimidated but continue to provide effective checks and balances to the PF Government.
