President Edgar Lungu has observed the need for African leaders to join hands in combating terrorism on the continent.

Speaking when he held talks with his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta at state house this afternoon, President Lungu says issues of conflict are the ones causing people to leave their countries and become refugees in other countries.

President Lungu has however hailed the role Mr. Kenyatta has played in bringing peace and stability in south Sudan, democratic republic of Congo and Burundi.

He says the efforts made by the Kenyan Head of State are appreciated especially that they are aimed at uniting the continent.

President Lungu has also reaffirmed his commitment to working hard in strengthening the economic ties that exist between Zambia and Kenya.

And Mr. Kenyatta has noted the need for the two countries to continue working together in addressing economic challenges that their respective people are facing.

Mr. Kenyatta thinks that it is through having close relationship that the economic challenges such as poverty can be eradicated.

He has since encouraged the business community from both countries to see how best they can strengthen their ties and help the local people through job creation.

Meanwhile Zambia and Kenya have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in four key areas of Agriculture, Tourism, Police Corporation, Gender Equality and ICT.

The MoU was signed by foreign affairs minister Harry Kalaba and Kenyan Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Ambassador Amina Mohamed at state house this afternoon.

Speaking shortly after signing the MoU, Mr. Kalaba told journalists that government will always look for opportunities of exploring other ventures of bringing the services closer to the people.
