Numbers of Zambian women taking contraceptive improving- PPAZ

Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia (PPAZ) has disclosed that the numbers of women taking contraceptive in the country has tremendously improved this year.

PPAZ Executive Director Edford Mutuma says his organization is overwhelmed with the response from women flocking to its entire outreach centers.

Mr. Mutuma says women between the ages of 28 and 35 years old have shown interest to learn about the importance of child spacing through contraception.

He states that in this regard, the PPAZ reproductive health team has continued to go round communities to sensitize women on the importance of having the right contraceptive at the right time.

Mr. Mutuma who could however not disclose the figures says women have now fully come to terms that administering the right contraceptive has no harm to their health.

He adds that PPAZ is also working closely with the ministry of health, Center for Reproductive Health and Education, Zambia Medical Association and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the public has access to free counseling on issues of reproductive health.

Mr. Mutuma has since encouraged women to continue seeking advice from qualified health personnel before being on any type of contraceptive.
