UPND Vice President Dr. Canisius Banda
The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says former Finance Minister Katele Kalumba cannot tarnish its image in any way.
Dr Kalumba a former UPND campaign ally in the 20th January presidential election was recently referred to critics calling him a PF cadre to imitations of English golems whose individual brains are as small as a fraction of a single cell species’ brain.
But UPND Vice President Canisius Banda has wondered why Dr Kalumba who is also Sub- Chief Natende of Chiengi district issued such a wild statement in an apparent reference to UPND members and their leader Hakainde Hichilema.
Dr. Banda has told Qfm News by telephone that by making such an insulting statement, Dr Kalumba will only manage to create animosity in the country.
He says he suspects that Dr Kalumba’s speech is only a reflection of his strategic alignment with the ruling PF because his interest is allegedly to have his personal pressures arising from the charges he is facing in court dropped.
Dr. Banda says Dr Kalumba allegedly attempted to use the same strategy when he aligned himself with the UPND in run-up to the January 20th presidential election because he was convinced the opposition party would form government and thereby treat him favorably.
He says it thus makes strategic sense that the Sub- Chief has now decided to align himself with the PF.
