The Private Sector Development Association (PSDA) is optimistic that once adopted, the dual citizenship clause will help boost investment in Zambia.

PSDA Chairperson Yusuf Dodia explains that if dual citizenship clause is adopted, it will mean Zambians in the Diaspora who other citizenships will be able to openly recognize that they also have citizenship of their home country and thereby be in a position to use their capacities to borrow abroad for investment in Zambia.

Mr. Dodia says this also entails that there will be higher levels of investment in the Zambian economy from Zambians who have dual citizenship and are living abroad.

Mr Dodia has told Qfm News in an interview that what therefore should be understood by stakeholders who might be skeptical about supporting the adoption of the dual citizenship clause, are the advantages and disadvantages of having such a provision.

He states that there are more advantages than disadvantages in having dual citizenship given the fact that Zambia is still a developing economy.

Mr Dodia says the broader perspective on dual citizenship goes beyond the fear of not knowing which country a citizen with duo citizenship will owe his or her loyalty to the most.
