Commerce, Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Miles Sampa has urged Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to work hard towards expanding their businesses.

Mr.Sampa states that MSMEs should not remain at the same level in the next five years, but should aim at growing into cooperatives.

He says it is sad to see some MSMEs remain at the same level for a number of years.

Mr. Sampa says government is aware of the challenges MSMEs are facing in the country, but that this should stop them from expanding their businesses.

He adds that MSMEs should be innovative and think of ways to grow their businesses so that they can contribute to creating job opportunities for the people of Zambia which will translate into a reduction in the levels of poverty in the country.

Mr. Sampa further states that government stands ready to help MSMEs because it is aware of the fact that MSMEs are the engines of the economy.
