UPND concerned voter registration has been postponed

United Party for National Development (UPND) is concerned that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has changed the dates for commencing voter registration.

UPND Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo notes that the move is not a step in the right direction because many people will be disadvantaged to register due to the rainy season.

Mr. Lifwekelo has suggested that the commission should have maintained the same dates so that political parties and citizens who are to register as voters are not inconvenienced in any way.

Mr. Lifwekelo says the UPND is therefore appealing to the ECZ to reconsider reverting back to the initial dates as was agreed with all political parties.
