Embrace consensus on constitution- Shultz urges govt

US Ambassador to Zambia Eric Shultz has reiterated the need for the Zambian government to embrace consensus before making amendments to the country’s constitution.

Mr. Shultz says despite him being a diplomat he personally thinks that the constitution is the pillar of any country hence the need to have majority Zambians agree on the way forward.

He is of the impression that Zambia has very loving people who are able to understand and share positive ideas that can move their country forward.

The US envoy strongly feel that the constitution making process in Zambia will put the country on another level if there is transparency and consensus in the whole process.

He states that it is thus up to the people and its government to decide how they will enact a constitution that will stand the test of time.
