PF reminded of ATI bill enactment promise

The Patriotic Front has been reminded that it won the 2011 election on the platform of promoting a free media and enacting the Access to Information (ATI) bill into law.

Press Freedom Committee of the Post Chairperson Namatama Mundia in a statement says it is the duty of the PF government to implement what Zambians demand.

Ms Mundia says government should not see implementing what the Zambians demand as a favour.

She says the clear and specific demand from Zambians is that they want the ATI law enacted so that some of the unnecessary secrecies could be removed.

Ms Mundia states that it is these same secrecies that have bred and increased corruption in the country.

She has also reminded the PF government that they will not be in power forever, and that they will need the same law they have threatened not to enact.
Ms Mundia has further reminded the PF Government that that it is not only journalists who will be beneficiaries of this law, but that to the contrary the majority beneficiaries will be the general public.
