The National Council for Construction (NCC) says it will investigate reports indicating that 46 local contractors in Muchinga Province have abandoned their various projects.

Special Assistant for Project Implementation at State House Lucky Mulusa recently disclosed that about forty-six Zambian contractors have abandoned their projects in Muchinga Province with only five on sites.

NCC Executive Director Charles Mushota says the council will find out why these 46 local contractors are not performing accordingly.

Mr. Mushota tells QFM News via telephone that the council will send inspectors to assess the performance of local contractors not just in Muchinga Province but in all parts of the country.

He says the council is interested to know what is happening in the construction sector.

And Mr. Mushota has dismissed the justification by Small Scale and Medium Contractors Association that contractors are still on industrial break saying there is no such law in the construction industry.

Mr. Mushota explains that there is an agreement in the construction sector where contractors can go on recess from December to mid January and that the statement by the Small Scale and Medium Contractors is not within the construction laws.
