Traffic offences Fast Track Courts set for second quarter

The first phase of the roll out program for the Fast Track Courts for Traffic offences has been scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2015.

The first phase of the roll out project is earmarked for Kitwe, Ndola, Chipata, Livingstone and Kabwe districts.

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA), says this is owing to the fact that the Fast Track Courts has proved to be a good vehicle to change the bad driver attitude and behaviour among motorists.

RTSA Information officer Fredrick Mubanga has told Qfm News in a statement the Fast track court has already recorded a 40 percent reduction in a number of motorists being charged for drinking and driving.

Mr. Mubanga says this reduction has been attributed to the fact that motorist are beginning to understand the consequences of drinking and driving as regards to the provisions of the law.

He says his agency is determined at changing road user behavior in order to contribute towards the reduction of road traffic accidents.

Mr. Mubanga has also advised that, as the first quarter comes to an end on the 31 of March 2015, all motorists whose Road tax expires on this date should renew to avoid any charges.
