ZDA attributes economic growth to construction

The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has observed that non-copper mining and construction is what is driving the country’s robust economic growth.

ZDA Director General Patrick Chisanga says other drivers of Zambia’s economic growth are Agriculture, wholesale and retail trade.

Speaking this morning during a media briefing in Lusaka ahead of the December 4th -5th Pangaea-ZDA Zambia Investment Conference, Mr. Chisanga says this run of economic resilience is supported by the country’s focus on trade and investment.

Mr. Chisanga says his agency is therefore confident that the forthcoming Pangaea-ZDA Zambia Investment Conference will maintain this focus.

He says the conference has come at a time Zambia’s international profile is on the rise with investors focusing their attention on the country owing to the opportunities it currently presents in diverPatrick Chisangase economic sectors, an emerging middle class and year on year growth.

Mr. Chisanga says through trade and economic platforms such as the forthcoming Investment Conference, Zambia is placing itself firmly on the investment radar of the international community.

He has also disclosed that during the conference which will have 70 panelists among them world renowned entrepreneur and founder of the Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson, the ZDA is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with international Enterprise Singapore.

Mr. Chisanga says the MoU is a way of enhancing partnership with regard to investment and trade promotion.
And Pangaea Holdings Chief Executive Officer Ceaser Siwale says his company is particularly excited to collaborate with the ZDA in hosting the Investment Conference.

Mr. Siwale says his company thinks the conference will provide a platform to showcase Zambia’s strong entrepreneurship.
