Setting up of Kafue water treatment plant underway -LWSC

Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) says it is in the process of setting up a water treatment plant in Kafue district at a total cost of $150 million.

Company marketing and public relations Manager Topsy Sikalinda has disclosed to Qfm news in an interview that the company wants to ensure that customers have access to clean drinking water at all costs.

Mr. Sikalinda adds that the company has a master plan to improve the water generation capacity by establishing more water treatment plants within the areas it operates in order to meet the growing demand.

Mr. Sikalinda further states that the water utility company also has other active projects being funded by the Millennium Challenge Account involving the sinking of bore holes in communities to help improve water and sanitation.

He adds the company will soon be doing a complete overhaul of the Chunga and Manchinchi Sewerage plants to ensure sewer challenges are sorted out within Lusaka.
