No infrastructure project has stalled – Mushota

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure Development Permanent Secretary, Charles Mushota says no infrastructure project has stalled following the announcement of austerity measures by government.

Engineer Mushota says government has secured a loan amounting to K1.3 billion from the National Pension and Scheme Authority (NAPSA) in order fund the completion of projects whose construction is at 80 percent and above.

He says out of this amount, six hundred million kwacha has been channeled to the road sector, while seven hundred million kwacha has been channeled to other building infrastructure projects.

Mr. Mushota notes with concern that the statement on austerity measures was misunderstood by some sections of society.

He has told Q-News that President Edgar Lungu only directed that priority should be given to projects whose works have reached 80 percent and above.

Mr Mushota states that the Head of State clearly directed that projects which are almost complete must be given attention so that they can start serving their purpose.
