Tayali protest, calling for the reopening of UNZA and CBU

Economic and Equity party president Chilufya Tayali has staged a lone protest in Lusaka calling for the reopening of the University of Zambia and Copperbelt University.

Mr Tayali who was clad in a green work suit used a megaphone to call for the reopening of the two institutions during his protest which started from East Park shopping mall to the University of Zambia Great East road campus.

He has accused Higher Education minister Professor Nkandu Luo of not caring about the plight of the students because she and other ministers send their children abroad to study.

Mr. Tayali says Professor Luo’s explanation over the continued closure of the two higher learning institutions does not make any sense.

He says the ongoing cleaning exercise at the two universities will not increase accommodation space.

Mr. Tayali has since urged Professor Luo to act like a mother and reopen the two universities with immediate effect.
