Six people dead in separate road accidents

Esther katongo ZPSix people have died in separate road traffic accidents which happened yesterday in Luapula, Central, Copperbelt and Northern Provinces.

Three pedestrian juveniles among them twins, died on the spot after they were involved in an accident on Luanshya Road.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says the accident happened at about 17:20 hours on at Chintala Village, Chief Kalunkumya’s area in Mpongwe district.

Ms Katongo says the accident involved a Toyota Chaser registration number ALH 3209 which was being driven by a 28 year old man only identified as Chikonde who sustained a cut on the head and had two juveniles on board aged one year and another aged four years who both sustained injuries and are admitted to Mpongwe Mission Hospital.

Ms Katongo has identified the deceased as Dyness Kawanga aged 11 years, Francis Chintala and Cecilia Chintala aged nine all of Chintala Village.

In Central Province, a five year old boy died on the spot while a seven year old girl survived with serious injuries after they were hit by unknown motor vehicle in a hit and run road traffic accident.

The Police Spokesperson says the injured is in Kabwe General Hospital while the body of the deceased is in Kabwe General Hospital mortuary.

In Northern Province, a seven year old girl died on the way to Kasama General Hospital after she was hit by a motor vehicle Nissan Hard Body registration number BAF 5258 being driven by Stabs Bradley aged 30 years of Lusaka’s Leopards Hill.

Ms Katongo explains that the accident happened at about 17:30 hours on Kasama-Mpika road at Sitalyando Village, Chief Nkolemfumu of Kasama District when the victim was crossing the road.

And In Luapula Province, a 40 year old man of Kabalika Village, Chief Milenge of Mansa District died on the spot after he was hit by a motor vehicle Toyota Sprinter registration number ACV 1317 driven by Collins Chipili aged 21 of Mwamfuli Village, Chief Kasoma Bangweulu of Mansa District.
