Economist Yusuf Dodia says the current political atmosphere in the country has the potential to jeopardize investor confidence.

Mr. Dodia says the political tension could lead to investors withholding their investment until when the country is politically stable.

Mr. Dodia tells QTV news that Parliament should therefore exercise extreme caution when considering the motion relating to the invocation of article 31,  with the view of protecting the country’s investor confidence and economic fundamentals.

He says the move to invoke article 31 maybe intimidating to would-be investors as well as those already operating in the country.

President Edgar Lungu on Wednesday invoked Article 31 of the Republican Constitution which if approved by Parliament will see Police have more powers in view of sabotage cases in the country targeting public property.
