Longwe pledges to strengthen gender equality

Newly appointed Non Governmental Organization Coordinating Council (NGOCC) Chairperson Sara Longwe has pledge her commitment to strengthening gender equality in the country.

Ms. Longwe says this means that women organizations such as the NGOCC will have to take a leading role in advocating for gender equality and women empowerment.

In an interview with Qfm News, Ms. Longwe has also reaffirmed the NGOCC’s commitment to ensuring the enactment of the country’s new constitution before the 2016 general elections.

She says with this new constitution in place, her organization would like to ensure that women empowerment policies become more pronounced and well funded.

The NGOCC Chairperson notes that to this effect, there is a Bill of Equality that is being drafted which will force the country to take women seriously as full human beings and full developers of the country.

Ms Longwe states that as the new Chairperson for NGOCC, she brings a new vigor to the organization.
