ActionAid Zambia has embarked on the implementation of a K1. 56 million project called Queen’s Young Leaders Fire starter Initiative aimed at providing opportunities for young people to learn new skills, enter employment and give them a voice in their communities.

Speaking during the launch of the project, ActionAid Zambia country director Nalucha Ziba explains that the programme is in honor of Queen Elizabeth the second’s 60 years of service to the Commonwealth designed to help young people transform their own lives and those of others around them.

Ms. Ziba says the project will also contribute to creating job opportunities for young people in the country.

And in a speech read on his behalf by National Youth Development Council Director Programmes Stanslous Chilekwa, Youth,Sport and Child Development Minister Vincent Mwale  says the PF government recognizes the fact that youths in Zambia face barriers to education due to unprecedented levels of poverty which has resulted in multiple forms of discrimination and limited employment prospects.
