The Office of the Public Protector has been urged to exert itself and live up to its mandate.

Civil rights activist, Brebner Changala is concerned that since its inception, the office of the Public Protector has gone incognito in its operations.

Mr. Changala says he has been left to wonder whether or not this office merely exists for window dressing.

In an interview with QTV News, Mr. Changala notes that the Public Protector exists to protect the public and nothing else.

He says the office of the Public Protector is moving in the same moribund route institutions such as the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) have taken.

Mr Changala says his fear therefore is that the Office of the Public Protector will soon become useless if it continues on this path.
