NGOCC pledges to support Saboi

The Non Governmental Organization Coordination Council (NGOCC) has pledged to support National Democratic Congress (NDC) Lusaka Mayoral candidate Saboi Imboela, the only female candidate in the race.

NGOCC Chairperson, Sarah Longwe is optimistic that Ms Imboela will scoop the mayoral seat despite being the only female among a pack of men.

Ms Longwe has told Q-news that Lusaka has a track record of a woman Mayor, Patricia Nawa who performed exceptionally well and therefore the mayoral seat needs a woman for the city of Lusaka to be put in order.

She says the city of Lusaka has lost all purpose as it is marred by high levels of poverty, women dying while giving birth, high levels of teenage and women drunkards among other negative aspects.

Ms Longwe states that it is disappointing that most political parties did not think of fielding female candidates.
