Siavonga Member of Parliament Darius Mulunda says hunger is looming in Siavonga District due to poor rainfall experienced in the previous farming season and the chaotic implementation of the e-voucher system.

Mr. Mulunda has since called on government through the Disaster, Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to consider supplying relief food to the people of Siavonga before they die of hunger.

Mr. Mulunda has accused Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama of remaining adamant despite knowing the fact that the district is likely to be hit with hunger.

He says the District Commissioner is misleading the government through DMMU by not giving the correct position.

Mr. Mulunda tells QTV News that on several occasions he has visited the DC to encourage him to get the statistics of the people who may need help but that he maintains that there is no hunger looming in the district.

The Siavonga lawmaker has since asked the office of the Vice President to visit his district and assess the hunger levels and see who may need help before a life is lost.
