Mines meet 2018 first quarter target

TALENT-NGANDWE-990x845The Chambers of Mines of Zambia says the mining industry has met the 2018 first quarter target of 200, 000 tons of copper production.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Talent Ng’andwe says the target which was projected by the chamber is mainly due to international factors that determine the price of Copper.

Mr. Ng’andwe says assuming that stability in the mining industry is sustained based on the spirit of dialogue government has adopted; annual copper production will exceed the projected 850, 000 tons target.

In an interview with QTV News, Mr. Ng’andwe says the chamber of mines expects that there will be no changes to the mineral royalty regime.

Mr. Ng’andwe says other factors that affect the performance of the mining industry will also matter in achieving the projected annual copper production.
