US$300M 108 mini hospitals project launched

The Ministry of Health has officially launched the US$300 million project to construct 108 mini hospitals across the country.

The first three mini hospitals which will each come with 5 staff houses will be constructed in Nakachenja, Mondegwa and Tubalange areas of Chilanga District by a British contractor NMSI.

Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the three mini hospitals, Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya said the construction of the mini hospitals is government’s strategy to improve healthcare service delivery in the Country.

Dr. Chilufya says government under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu remains committed to bringing health services closer to the people.

He told crowds that turned up to witness the ground breaking ceremony that government will also ensure that roads leading to these health facilities are worked on.

And Chilanga Member of Parliament, Maria Langa said the construction of the three mini hospitals are a way of saying thank you to the people of Chilanga for electing her as their Member of Parliament.

Ms. Langa says the area is poised for unprecedented development.

In a vote of thanks, Mondegwa ward councilor, Morgan Musunga hailed government’s commitment to bringing closer health services to people in the area.
