Green Party to sue the state over Black Mountain accident

The Opposition Green Party has threatened to sue the state over the Black Mountain accident in Kitwe in which 10 people died after part of the slug dump collapsed on them.

Party president Peter Sinkamba feels the cause of death and injury was to the victims was a direct consequence of negligence statutory duty on the part of the State.

He says government breached sections of the Mines and Minerals Development Act No. 11 of 2015.

Mr. Sinkamba says based on section 87 (7) of the Mines and Minerals Development Act No. 11 of 2015, the Green party will commence legal action against the state.

He says reclamation activities of slag at the said the black mount resulted in the tragic loss of ten (10) lives and personal injury to at least seven (7) others
