The opposition United Liberal Party (ULP) says the existence of institutions such as the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) is necessary for the promotion of good governance in the country.

ULP president Sakwiba Sikota says such institutions are in fact a must have in a democratic Country.

Mr. Sikota who is also a constitutional lawyer, however, says that what should be looked at is how such institutions operate.

In an interview with QTV News by telephone, Mr. Sikota says his party is stricken by the similarities between the issue of the FIC Director, Mary Tshuma and that of former US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director, James Comey.

He however, states that it is not until his party studies these two striking similarities will it pronounce itself on the whole issue of the FIC publishing raw intelligence to the public.
