Government says an investigation has been instituted aimed at establishing facts into the collapse of a portion of the black mountain leaving at least ten people dead and several others injured.

The death toll remains 10 as the search and rescue operation at the site continues.

Chief Government Spokesperson, Dora Siliya says the Ministry of Mines will soon issue a statement on the matter.

Ms. Siliya says it is not until facts have been established will the forward be known on how mining from the copper slug dump popularly known as the black mountain should be conducted.

The Minster was speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka.

And Ms. Siliya says there is no need to unnecessarily delay the enactment of the Access to Information Bill into law.

Ms. Siliya says the Bill is not meant for the media or politicians but for the Zambian people.

She states that what government is therefore doing at the moment is to ensure that once enacted, the legislation will balance the right to information against the right to privacy.
