PF sets date to consider applications for by-elections candidates

The Patriotic Front (PF) Central Committee will on sit to consider applications for candidates who have applied to contest for the positions Mayor and Council Chairperson in the upcoming by-elections.

PF Secretary General Davies Mwila has since advised all aspiring candidates in the party to appreciate that under democracy; only one candidate can be chosen.

He says once the decision has been made; the party would be expected as always to move together and embrace the unity of purpose.

Mr Mwila says in the same vein, all political parties should shun political violence ahead of the Mayoral elections for the city of Lusaka in order to promote a culture of peace and tolerance.

He says the call is in line with the directive by President Edgar Lungu for all political parties, to carry out a serious introspection on the issue of violence.

Mr Mwila has since called on PF members at all levels to exercise high levels of restraint even under great provocation from opponents.
