Chilufya reiterates need for health facilities to work with neighborhood groups

Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya has reiterated the directive for health facilities to closely work with neighborhood groups as a way of reaching out to the communities effectively.

And the upgrade of Chawama health post to a district hospital under the K400 million JICA project to upgrade health facilities to district hospitals has today been commissioned by the ministry of health.

Speaking when he officiated at the event Chilufya noted the need to encourage programs that will ensure that the country attains universal health coverage objectives.

And the minister has announced that government is in the process of constructing a big health facility in Misisi compound that will provide health services to the people of Misisi, Chawama and surrounding areas.

Dr Chilufya has reiterated government’s commitment to improving health infrastructure around the country, stating that as a result of this commitment.

He has since assured that the construction of 650 health posts will be completed this year.

The Health Minister is hopeful that the upgraded district hospital will attend to the health needs of the people of Chawama and surrounding areas.

Speaking earlier, area Member of Parliament Lawrence Sichalwe expressed gratitude to the government for considering Chawama to be among the first health centers to be upgraded.

He has since urged the people of Chawama to effectively utilize and safeguard the hospital once operational.
