The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says revelations that two hundred newly recruited Medical Doctors have not been placed on Government payroll proves that the government is too broke.

NDC Secretary General Mwenya Musenga has challenged the government to come out in the open and explain why it is failing to remunerate its workforce.

Mr. Musenga says his party has information that Medical Doctors are not the only recruits affected in this mess and that dozens of other medical staff such as nurses, clinicians and radiographers are also affected.

He says it makes sad reading that this Carder of medical staff have not been placed on payroll for close to one year now.

Mr. Musenga claims that his party has further information that Government has challenges in raising money for salaries for civil servants.

He says NDC first brought out this issue three months ago but that the Treasury has never responded over this matter.

The NDC Chief Executive Officer states that it is not a conspiracy that since January this year, Government has been delaying the payment of salaries for public service workers.

He further states that the high debt burden is hindering Government from fully meeting its obligations.
