Lusaka Lawyer Jonas Zulu says there is an urgent need for the Courts of law to interpret the mandate of the Financial Intelligence Center (FIC), accusing center of releasing classified information that is not meant for public consumption.

Mr. Zulu has told journalists that in accordance with the FIC Act No. 4 of 2016, the Financial Intelligence Center has no mandate to release sensitive information to the public, but rather submit such information to law enforcement agencies for follow ups.

He has noted the misunderstandings surrounding the mandate of the center, saying the only tie breaker is for the court to interpret the mandate of the center in line with the Financial Intelligence Centre Act.

Mr Zulu has reiterated that the center has no mandate to make public sensitive information that should be treated as classified.
