Zambian media is still polarized eight months after 2016 elections

Political Scientist Alex Ng’oma has observed that the Zambian media has remained polarized eight months after the Country went to the polls.

Dr Ng’oma notes that media houses have either aligned themselves to the government or the opposition.

ALEX NG'OMAHe says the media houses that aligned themselves to the government have been attacking the opposition, while those aligned to the opposition are also doing the same to the government.

In an interview with QTV News, Dr. Ng’oma who is also a University of Zambia (UNZA) lecturer says he finds such polarization of the media unfortunate and not good for the nation.

He states that it’s in the best interest of the nation for the media to develop a culture of telling the story as it is without sugar coating it.

Dr Ng’oma has since appealed to the media in the Country to adhere to professionalism if they are to be respected and protected from unnecessary attacks.
