PF,UPND rules out reconciling anytime soon

The ruling PF and opposition UPND have both ruled out the possibility of them reconciling anytime soon.

Various stakeholders have been calling on the two rival parties to bury their political differences and move ahead in the spirit of oneness, with the latest call coming from the Human Rights Commission.

katukaUPND Secretary General Steven Katuka has told QTV News that the party has no immediate plans to dialogue with the ruling PF because President Lungu does not want to address the source of the differences.

Mr. Katuka says stakeholders calling for reconciliation are actually indirectly telling the President to deal with the tension in the country whose source is aware of.

He says President Lungu must take a leading role in addressing this problem by addressing the grievances of the opposition.

Speaking in a separate interview, PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya says it is difficult for the ruling party to dialogue with the UPND when they have failed to recognize President Lungu as a Republican President.

Mr. Bwalya says in as much as the PF embraces dialogue, it is laughable when the UPND says they want to meet President Lungu when they have refused to recognize him as Head of State.
