US foreign aid cuts won’t affect health programmes – Malama

Dr MalamaThe Ministry of health says health programmes supported by the US Government will not be affected by the cuts in foreign by the new administration in Washington.

Spokesperson Dr Kennedy Malama says the health sector is secure in terms of funding.

Dr Malama has told QTV News that the country is still receiving donor funding from the US government for most health programs especially those to do HIV through the PEPFAR program.

He says Minister of health Dr Chitalu Chilufya recently held a meeting with the United States ambassador to Zambia Eric Schultz who assured him that the PEPFAR program will not be affected by the recent pronouncements by US President Donald Trump to cut foreign aid to needy countries.
