Zesco and Nkana are set for a grudge clash on Sunday in the 2017 Charity Shield finals at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Nkana head into the final, five months after ending their 17 league match win-less run, against Zesco stretching back to 2004.

Nkana now set their sights on ending another win-less run against Zesco, this time in the Charity Shield from two previous meetings.

Zesco beat Nkana 5-4 on post-match penalties in the 2015 semifinals en-route to lifting the title.

Sunday’s meeting will be the two sides’ second final clash, after Zesco beat Nkana 3-0 in the 2011 edition in Kitwe.

Nkana are feeling confident heading into this weekend’s date, after dismantling Super League champions Zanaco 3-0, in Thursday’s semifinal at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Striker Walter Bwalya, who scored a brace in that 3-2 milestone win in the league, over Zesco last November, will again be in the spotlight.

Bwalya has already scored one goal in the Charity Shield in last Thursday’s convincing downing of Zanaco.

Meanwhile, Zesco coach Zlatko Krmpotic will be sweating on the fitness of his two strikers Jackson Mwanza and Idris Mbombo, who both limped off in the 4-2 semifinal win over Power Dynamos.

But the Serb may be forced to rest the duo with an eye on this weekend’s trip to Nigeria to play their 2017 Caf Confederation Cup pre-group round first leg away match against Enugu Rangers.

And so the onus will be on Kenya striker Jesse Were and John Chingandu to get some revenge and set the record straight once again over Nkana.
