Minister of Local Government and Housing Steven Kampyongo says government is striving in ensuring that there is equity, transparency and fairness in land allocation in the country.
Mr. Kampyongo has told QFM News in Lusaka that government wants to see to it that women and the poor too have access to land.
Mr. Kampyongo says this can be done by way of coming up with favorable policies that will see to it that even the marginalized in society have access to land.
He says the trend of land allocation by political cadres has been there but that he is working hard in ensuring that this trend comes to a stop.
He is confident that the current measures being worked on under his ministry will no doubt help in addressing illegalities in land allocation in Zambia.
Mr. Kampyongo has also disclosed that his ministry is putting up measures of ensuring that when councils are giving out land, his ministry should approve so as to reduce corruption and illegality in land allocation.
