Kapoma doubts if there is democracy in NAREP

Former National Restoration Party (NAREP) Presidential Advisor David Kapoma says the decision by NAREP President Elias Chipimo to withdraw from the 2016 presidential race will result in people doubting if there is democracy in the party.

Mr. Kapoma believes that there are people within the party who may wish to contest the presidency under the NAREP ticket than him denying them that right.

He says what the NAREP Leader could have done was to call for a convention and allow members who may wish to stand on the party ticket to contest at the general conference.

Mr. Kapoma says the decision again to support another political party during next year’s elections may weaken the party further in that some members may continue supporting that same political party even beyond 2016.

He states that the decision made by Mr. Chipimo is a tricky one in that it might swallow the party completely.
