CAPIZ saddened by continued lay offs in Mines

Christians against Poverty in Zambia (CAPIZ) is saddened by the continued laying off of workers by mining company.

CAPIZ President Evangelist Gregory Chileshe says the continued laying off of workers is eroding the efforts by the government and other stakeholders of reducing the high levels of poverty in the country.

He says the miners who are losing jobs have families that they take care of.

Evangelist Chileshe says these families will end up suffering after their breadwinners have been laid off, thereby exacerbating the poverty levels in the country.

He has also wondered how government will manage to create 1 million jobs as outline in the national youth policy when thousands of jobs are being lost.

Evangelist Chileshe says it is therefore important that government and mine owners find a lasting solution to the challenges in the mining industry in order to secure jobs.
