Lungu is not desperate to stay in power – State House

State House has dismissed as untrue suggestions by the opposition UPND that President Edgar Lungu is desperate to stay in power.

The State House does not think there could be any desperation when President Lungu is still enjoying massive support of the Zambian people.

The President’s Special Aide for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda has also described as nonsensical insinuation that President Lungu had a hand in the disagreements that the UPND leadership and the Police recently had on the Copperbelt over the enforcement of law and order.

In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Chanda has wondered how President Lungu could have been involved when he was not there on the Copperbelt when the UPND disagreed with the Police.

Mr. Chanda notes that what happened on the Copperbelt was a clear breach of the law on the part of the UPND.

He says this is especially that the UPND indicated before hand that it would break the law in spite of  Police advice that it could not go ahead with its public gatherings in the Province.

And Mr. Chanda states that President Lungu will not be hoodwinked by campaigns of malice, hatred and the use of state institutions to target people in a disguise of the fight against corruption.

Mr. Chanda says President Lungu will not prosecute anyone of corruption when there is no evidence to the effect that someone did something wrong.

He explains that this means that President Lungu is not available to satisfy pocket vendetta agendas and to be used as vehicle for hatred against individuals.
