President Edgar Lungu says Permanent Secretaries should interface with their Ministers efficiently.
Speaking this morning when he swore-in Kayula Siame as Commerce, Trade and Industry Permanent, President Lungu says a Permanent Secretary in a government Ministry is supposed to make his or her Minister know how programs in the Ministry are being implemented.

He says this is besides informing the Minister about Cabinet business and advising the Minister when to issue a Ministerial statement.
President Lungu states that he however takes comfort in Ms. Siame’s background in the public service.
He says he expects the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry to operate more efficiently now that he has sworn in a new Permanent Secretary who is equal to the task.
Speaking after being sworn-in Ms. Siame told journalists that her priority will be pushing the industrialization and job creation strategy.
