Economist Isaac Ngoma has forewarned that the projected increase in load shedding in 2016 will compound the effects of the current economic situation in Zambia.

Mr. Ngoma notes that besides alternative sources of energy becoming costly, increased load shedding will result in further reduced productivity in the Country’s economy.

In an interview by telephone, Mr. Ngoma has told Qfm News that increased load shedding will in fact be an additional burden besides compromising many things in the economy.

Mr. Ngoma has cited the depletion of Micro and Small businesses out of business as an example of the economy activity that will not survive.

He says household incomes are also expected to be affected seriously.

Mr. Ngoma states that this means that poverty levels in Zambia will escalate next year with increased load shedding.
