Lifuka concerned, PF govt’s fight against corruption lacks action

Former Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) president Rueben Lifuka has observed that pronouncements on the fight against corruption by the PF Government are not being followed with action.

He notes that President Edgar Lungu, for example, has not come to the party to demonstrate that he means business by taking action against the perpetration of the vice in his government.

Mr. Lifuka has told Qfm News in an interview that President Lungu has not demonstrated that there are no sacred cows in his government when it comes to the fight against corruption.

He is of the view that President Lungu should demonstrate political will by going beyond mere pronouncements in the fight against corruption.

And Mr. Lifuka has noted the need for President Lungu to ensure that the Anti-Corruption Commission is adequately funded.

He says the ACC needs to be given the latitude that it needs to carry out its mandate without having to fear any political repercussions.

Mr. Lifuka believes that the fight against corruption needs a well thought out strategy and requires the revisiting of certain decisions that government made previously.
